Volunteering with National parks

Today I’ll be talking about volunteering for the national parks and how to do it. As the world is slowly opening it may be a good time to starting thinking about volunteering. First off, today I will be talking about American parks, I don’t know how it works or if it is available for other countries.  While I will be talking about my personal experiences with the National park service. you can also volunteer to other agencies like BLM, USACE, Forest service, and others. But the process is the same.  You can see the volunteering opportunities at   https://www.volunteer.gov/ where you then select a state or a specific organization. You’ll fill out a small form and they email you back usually within 1-2 weeks. I’m not completely sure but I think you can volunteer if you’re under 18 with permissions of your guardian. I have been volunteering my Saturdays to an eastern Idaho park, and I personally love it. To be transparent I’m interested in becoming a park ranger in the future and thought this would be a good experience and valuable to my resume. But even if you’re not doing it for experience it’s a great way to get outside and learn something new. You don’t have to commit too much you can do anything from one day a month or every day, So you can get as much or as little as you want from it, and can quit whenever you feel. Definitely something to look into if you’re interested.
